Torpids 2018 Preview

BNCBC's President, Emily Tench writes...

M1 are setting off second in Division 3, chasing Worcester on the first day. With a healthy blend of youth and experience they are looking to break away from Linacre, with Worcester in the firing line. Is Division 2 in sight for the plucky crew?

W1 will be leading Division 3 out of the starting blocks. They will be chased down by Wadham II but are hoping to successfully row over and then bump Worcester to regain their position in Division 2. With 3 returning rowers from last year’s boat, they’re excited to improve upon their 2017 results.

After a tough experience last year, M2 are out for revenge. In 2017, M2 were set for blades but an unfortunate coxing confusion led to them stopping rowing and dropping by 6 places on the final day of Torpids. This year, they’re hoping to make up for this by bumping into Division 4.

After just failing to qualify for Torpids in 2016, W2 are eager to turn the tables this year. Mainly comprised of novice rowers, these ladies are excited to experience their first taste of Bumps racing.
